THIRDS REACH HOMEGUARD SUNDAY CUP FINAL Date: 22 Jun 09
Scarborough 3rds recorded a comprehensive 135 run semi-final victory over division "B" side Scalby 3rds to reach the Homeguard Sunday Cup final for the first time in their history.
An opening stand of 110 in just 11 overs between Matthew Renwick (40) and Khalid Ahmed (64) put Boro well on the way to booking their cup final place,before both were dismissed in sucessive overs.Alex Renwick continued the onslaught making an unbeaten 67 in Boro's 244 for 5 off their allotted 30 overs.There were good contributions also from Jake Finnegan (25) and Darren Mills who made 15.
In reply Scalby 3rds had no answer to the bowling of Darren Mills (3-14) and spin twins Ian Renwick (3-10) and Jordan Welford (2-9) and were eventually dismissed for 109 with still 9 overs remaining.Other wicket takers were Jake Finnegan(1-18) and youngster Chris Mitchell (1-21). (see match report)
Scarborough will meet Sherburn 2nds in the final at Forge Valley's Ayton ground on July 12th start 3pm.
